I posted about this before....So I assembled my motor and didn't use thread sealant on my head bolts. It's got a new Edelbrock water pump, thermostat etc.. I'm getting bubbles in my expansion tank.... Removed head bolts one at a time in sequence and added sealant....then I drove it 3 or 4 times, all was fine, car stays at about 175-180 degrees then it starts bubbling again! I used a combustion tester and the results were yellow (positive Blown head gasket). So what advice can any of you c3 gurus give me for my head gasket replacement
And that will require the removal of some of the rocker arms to get at some of the head bolts.
And if you have headers, they may or may not have to be backed off from the head to reach the lower bolts.
Let the games begin.
If a "retorque" of the bolts does nothing, then prep for a tear-down.
And look at it this way.
Great opportunity to check on the cam lobes and lifters (one at a time).

Replacing head gaskets is really not that hard, just all the cleaning of parts is a bit of a pain. If you don't have success with the re-torque I would suggest you replace both sides, as you never know what damage was done to the other one....it could fail tomorrow or next week...or perhaps never....but I bet you wouldn't want to go in and do it again.
Keep everything organized, and clean, and just enjoy the experience.
Hi Mdbirk, so sorry this is happening. I know how frustrating it can be to have to redo work. If it's true that 'misery likes company' you can rest assured that most of us have been there. I hope it works out for you, and it will one way or another. I definitely agree that if you need to do one side you want to do them both - you'll have much of the work done to get to the other side anyway. Best of luck, and keep us informed. Paul
