My t tops have always rattled like something loose inside them. Ordered new seals and now I know what the rattle is. It's the nuts for the screws. Can those be replaced? I assume they are of the clip variety. Screws that thread into nuts.
Can the nuts inside the T-tops be replaced?
Are you sure it's the nuts -- as in the screws don't purchase on anything? That black channel should come off, and when in place, should be moveable just a bit so you can better seal with the window. The nut plates are under the chrome, under the channel.
It could also be the T-pins that secure most of the weatherstrip to the top. They break very easily, to forever rattle around in there. Some folks have drilled holes where the weatherstrip will cover and shake them out.
Same here on mine, old pins from weather strip. When you go to replace the weatherstrip most of the plastic pins snap off and rattle around.
Remove headliner, drill large hole in one corner that will be under the headliner, as in not seen once the headliner is reinstalled. DO NOT put a hole under the weatherstrip. Shake the top all around to get the pins to the corner where you drilled the hole. I drilled a hole about an inch in diameter. A combination of shaking out the pins and using a shop vac to suck them out, a bit of patience and no more rattles. Unlike Craig, I did not put plugs in the holes. Just put the headliner back on.
