I have a 77 with the 350 small block bored up to 383. The fuel pump is leaking a little bit, I tightened up the hoses hoping it was just that but it looks like it's just pooling up on the base of the fuel pump it has the 3 port one linked below:
Is there a good upgrade fuel pump that fits in there to account for the bore? I see so many different pumps on zip or top flight I was just wondering what anyone has done in the past. Thanks in advance!
I would thnk you wouldn’t need anymore than stock pump.
that said, crap shoot on quality. Look for airtex made n mexico but sme reported ac delco ok.
Think carter makes them all now anyway
look closer for where leak is and proper s hose. Pic?
I wouldn't think a 383 would need anything special in the way of a fuel pump.
However, finding a quality replacement pump can be a issue as I've been reading on here for the last several years.
So much so I decided to go electric, swap out my entire fuel system.
Best of luck finding a quality pump.
After you replace the pump, consider changing your oil. The diaphragm in the pump may have failed allowing fuel to leak into the crankcase. Jerry
I had the seal on my fuel pump fail and blow engine oil out of it.. I found the replacement delco pumps are sold under a few brands by Carter but I dont think carter manufacturers these pumps anymore but rather farms it out to another company.
There isnt very many replacements that deliver the correct fuel pressure and have the return line going back to the tank. The stock pump is still the best choice here IMO.
