my power window will not go up all the way,it seems to run out of gear a few inches from the top,i felt inside and the gear seems to be intact, now what? :flag
I had a similar problem on my 1980 . . . turned out that the teeth on the regulator gear were worn down just enough so that they didn't engage the motor when the window was up as high as it could go. My father and I ended up making a whole new gear for the regulator, but you can buy fix kits for those broken gears if that's the case.
Also peek down inside your door and make sure the rollers are in tact and in place. I'm getting ready to replace my rollers. They're friggin $25 each!
I had this problem with my 80. Ended up replacing the regulator, gear and motor on the driver's side and the motor on the passenger side. It could also be that the window is out of adjustment and is binding inside the track. Most likely bad rollers as mention above or the window is binding on the weather stripping at the top. This can be a real pain in the azz to adjust. Good Luck
If your rollers in the track are bad, just go to O'Reillys or Autozone and get them. There are in the "HELP" replacement part section. I had to do it on my 72.
Me thinks it's the regulator gear. Same situation on my 72....felt inside...felt ok...took it apart and WOW  The top 5 gears were worn enough to disengage from the motor gear completly. Bought a regulator rebuild kit from Zip and did the whole thing.

I never thought of that! I'll bet they aren't $25 at O'Reilly . ;)
