This is for a C3 Corvette. I need a simple recommendation on how adjusting the ignition switch that is mounted at the outside of the lower steering column, Some articles that I have read get very involved. My car starts with the key turned till it stops but most of the time it is a delayed start. Sometimes I am concerned it may not start. I found an article that gave the following instructions for adjusting the switch:
1. Loosen the ignition switch so that it will slide. In my case move the switch from the position that it is now so it willl not start with the key in start position.
2. Turn the key to start
3. Slide the ignition switch until it starts
Does someone have a better recommendation. Thanks in advance.
So when you say its delayed? Does the starter not start to spine the motor over when you first turn the key or are you referring to a delay between when the starter starts and when the engine actually starts firing and running?

When I go to start the car I turn the key till it stops but the car does not start immediately,, there is a slight hesitation in starting. It is as if turning on a light, it does dose nott turn on inlstatnously. The ignition switch is new. I am thinking the switch needs to be adjusted just slightly so it will start before the key reaches it turning limit. I am hoping some has the answer to adjusting the switch so the car will start before the key bottoms out.
Thanks
Thank you for the article, 1972. It is the first article that I have been able to come across with a detailed explanation on how the rod moves and to set up the switch for the placement of the rod. It's a big help.
New ignition switches come with a greenish locating pin inserted in them. This keeps the internals from moving until the electrical switch and the mechanical switch are aligned. With the pin inserted it is quite easy to align both parts.
Standard steering column and tele-tilt use slightly different switches.
