383 with long water pump
Hi all. I have searched extensively, but only come up with answers to water pump replacement on stock C3 engines. Does anyone know if there is room for an LWP with a fan clutch in an 81 C3? Or will I be into the radiator? To clarify this is a new 383 build with new brackets and pulleys.

That's not really the question, Will It Fit?
The real question is: Where will the fan blades end-up at in relation to the shroud?
Its critical the blades be about 2/3 of the way inside the shrouds outer rim.
And I don't see that happening with a Long W.P.

It won't be that big of deal to swap out the Long W.P. for a "Corvette" W.P. Just more spending.
Corvette pump. Not a short W.P. There is a difference.
Then you will be assured all the pullies will should align. Depending on your brackets.

Completely understand. I was hoping to just build the motor complete with all new brackets and accessories and pull the L81 out and leave it complete on a stand. Not looking like just any old SBC will shoehorn into a C3 though, so i may look into a March Corvette kit. Thanks a ton for your help!
