I have an 82 that I converted to carb. I took out the transducer and im running a single speedometer cable. Before replacing the two for one cable my speedometer was working properly. Now it hangs below 5mph and its not accurate. Put in plenty of cables in before and never had an issue. This is a new cable. Should i have lubed it?
Did you use a 64" cable?
If you disconnect the cable does the needle drop to zero?
Not sure of the length. I can check when i get home. I do know the speedo cable was for a 1980 corvette without cruise control. Curious, why does that certain length that you suggested matter? Im gonna check about speedometer dropping to zero. Are you thinking i could have accidently spun the speedometer back a little during installation? Cause that kinda makes sense.

Too long might bind. The needle is not directly connected to the cable. The cable spins magnets which move the needle. My suggestion about disconnected was more related to dirt or grease from the cable interfering with the needle.
