1079 C3 Drivers door latch
Good morning, Hey all my driver side door latch is giving me trouble. I have had it out cleaned in gasoline, wd 40 soaked wipe off had everything working properly on it. Re installed it and when I go to close the door. It pre latches then you go to push in the rest of the way and it tries to grab but you can pull the door right back open. My passenger side grabs and stays closed. Is there something I'm missing? I have adjusted the strike plate all over the place. Unless I'm missing something on the latch I guess Ill need to buy a new one. Thought I'd ask thanks in advance.

Try closing the latch with your fingers while the door is open. If it fully latches and doesn't flip back like it will open , then I think it is just a matter of getting the strike plate in the correct position so the lock will fully grasp the stud.

I believe there was a post on the Forum where some lipstick was applied to the round metal dowel on the car body. After closing the door, the lipstick will let you know where the lock (on the door) is hitting the dowel. The dowel can the be adjusted ( in out and up down ) using a large Allen Wrench. You can use Google to search for a step-by-step procedure.
