Im trying to track down a squeaking noise when i press the clutch pedal. I made this video of what seems to be the source. Does anyone have any experience with this? I thought it would be a simple fix to add some grease to some joints but I think i might have to do more. I will buy a clutch pedal to fork set and replace everything since some of the rubber is destroyed. It sounds like the squeak comes from the clutch release fork? is there a way to grease this without taking this apart?
Sqeeks from that area were normal on my old clutch setup. I greased it and it would go away for a while.
Then I went to Speed Direct and bought their Clutch hardware ROD-LINKS Clutch linkage and once installed on the Corvette it made the clutch much smoother and consistent. The action is very smooth and no binding or catching. The Teflon coated spherical rod ends are such a huge improvement over the factory arrangement.
Does the pedal assy squeak when the engine is not running? Take a look under the dash where the linkage comes thru the firewall. There is a nylon bushing between the clutch pedal lever and that link. It could be gone and metal on metal is causing the squeak.
If the squeak is when the engine is running, it is probably the throw-out bearing. (I hope not).
