rear bumper install question
My question is what do I do next? I have the individual retainers to bolt the bumper back on. I put it up to the car and it fits pretty close but it isn't an exact fit. When you shape the bumper what do you do exactly? You can't shave the ends becasue that is where the bolts hook up to.
Thanks for your help.
I recently replaced my front and rear bumpers. In most cases they need to be custom fitted to each car since each corvette body varies on specs. My rear bumper was almost a perfect fit. The advantage I had was the car was going into the body shop for a complete strip/paint job. The shop sanded and filled areas to blend both front and rear bumpers. I purchased the Tru-Flex bumpers and I am quite pleased with the final results. I might add that I noticed the body shop rivoted the individual s/s retainers to the bumpers so they would stay in place as they attached the nuts.
Does anyone else have any advise instead of taking it to a body shop where they will rape my wallet?
If I do take it to a body shop to have them hang it and paint it, how much should I expect to pay?
Make sure whoever does yours has done it before. There will be surprises.
If you do it yourself check the archives for details.
Remember, the bumpers never fit well when new.
Good Luck
