Default Need some help regarding 69 BB hood latches.

My particular '69 is using the "long hood" option where the vacuum operated wiper door has been removed and a '73 hood is long enough to cover that area. I do not know if what is on my car is correct, and I do not know if my car is a big hole or small hole car, or if that even matters if I am using the long hood option. On my driver side, things look to be correct to me, but on the passenger side, it looks like the bracket that the spring/pind connect to has been cut, and I do not see a bumper on this side like I see on the driver side. I will attach some pics to show what I am talking about. What I think I need is the complete hood pin/bracket/bumper assembly for the passenger side. Could someone else that is using the long hood option on a '69 show me what those assemblies look like on their car for both passenger and driver sides? Once I know what I need, can someone tell me where I can get the assembly, or if it is even available. My painter is waiting to paint my car until he can mount the new hood and check and correct the fit, so I would appreciate any pictures/answers ASAP. Thank you in advance!!! Here are the pics

Ok guys, I am responding to my own post to share what I found out from a product specialist from Corvette Central. The "big hole, small hole" issue regarding early and late 69 Vettes does NOT apply to my case since I am using a 1973 long hood on my '69. The part I am looking for is called a male hood latch/pin assembly, and Corvette Central cannot get and therefore does not sell this part. The technician told me to check the used parts market for a '73, '74, and possible a '75 male hood latch/pin assembly since my car is using a '73 long hood. I hope this helps anyone else that finds themself in my situation. So now, I need to go search the parts wanted and parts for sale thread!!!

I disagree somewhat with what Central's product specialist told you. The male hood latch pin and mounting plate are the same for all 70-76 Corvettes, and also the second design 69. Only 68 and the first design 69 male latch assemblies are different, using a different length pin with the marginally smaller cone end, and a little bit different base plate.

It's hard to tell from the pictures but it appears you may have the 68-first design 69 latch plates and pins. To be sure check the the size of the pins. According to my 1970 Parts Book the earlier pins are 2 11/64" long (though Central lists the early pin as 2 5/8" with a 25/32" diameter cone end?) while the second design 69-76 pin is listed as 2 1/2" long (the thread is the same for both pins, 1/2"-20 and the Corvette Parts Book does not give a diameter for the pin's cone end).

If your male latch pin is anything other than 2 1/2" OL I think you will need to find a set of 69-76 male latch assemblies, but if your car already has the later pins and mounting plates then you should be able to use what you have with the long hood.
