Water pump rebuild question
I’m in the process of rebuilding the water pump for my 1968 L89.
the pump, 3856284 casting number is date correct.
Id like to use my original cast iron impeller as opposed to the stamped steel that comes with most rebuild kits.
Ive read on the NCRS forum and on here that on all current rebuild kits available, the spindle diameter is different on the rebuild kits than what is OEM and trying to use the old impeller on the new spindle the tolerances are different.
So, looking for some recommendations on rebuild kits that will allow me to use my original cast iron impeller.
Any first hand knowledge of anyone that has recently rebuilt their water pumps using an original cast iron impeller.

2nd Gen auto parts, a seller on EBay, is selling water pump rebuild kits.
I emailed the fellow and asked about spindle diameter and he said it will be no problem using his kits and the cast iron impeller.
He claims he over sizes the spindle .02”
It arrives on Monday so I’ll report back on whether it works or not.
