A shop we restoring my 81 C3 and removed the smog pump and put a shorter pulley on to compensate. Now the belt bounces every time the compressor kicks on. Does anyone know of a "dummy" pulley that I can put in its place? Looking for a kit with a bracket. I don't want to put a new smog pump on.

Why did the shop change any pulleys when removing the air pump?
Why not reinstall the original pulley?
AC and Air Pump use separate belts and separate grooves in the pulley.
Does this shop regularly work on older cars?
I second that the air pump has nothing to do with the a/c , why remove the air pump anyway? When I look at vettes for sale especially 81,82 and see aftermarket intake, carb , missing parts ect I think the car is now butchered would never consider buying it, I think everything stock factory is the way to go.
Not everyone agrees with you however.
there are a quite a few of us that will quickly dump the computer controlled carb and distributor in a 81. And availability or lack of I might say, of replacement parts for the crossfire system has caused a large number of people to drop the system completely.
So, while some really do prefer a factory stock car. More and more of us dump that idea in favor of a vehicle that actually runs. And runs well.

I understand everyone has their own taste of what they want and good for them , my factory car actually runs well also lol I was just pointing out the investment side ( not that a car is a good investment) clearly showing all stock cars commanded more money than non stock , that being said I guess just having fun with your car is really the goal.

I would agree, I also like keeping everything stock. If you keep it stock and learn how to work on the 44 year old technology work through the issues and understand how everything was intended to work, the car will run better and as intended. Well that is we’re this hobby is so great, you can also do what you want to your own car. Enjoy, have fun and keep on cruising.
