Default Need advice on dash repair

I have a 75 convertible that needs some stuff done behind the dash (heater core, clock, tach, trip reset) and while it is apart, is there anything you guys recommend I proactively replace or restore before it goes back together? I only want to do it once. I have a screw kit, gasket kit for the heater box, tach circuit board and bulb kit. Any advice/recommendations are greatly appreciated. As always, thank you to everyone on the Forum and all of you and your families have a safe, happy and healthy New Year!

Replace all the light bulbs. I like LEDs for a modern update. Superbright is the best supplier, you want the ones that are NOT POLARITY SENSITIVE. How is your tach and speedo?

Maybe check grounds and clean where they attach? Vacuum out and blow out behind the vent doors? Lube any cables? Insulate the firewall? Just some ideas.

I've owned my 77 for many, many years. I have truly lost count of the number of times I have had my dash apart. So , you may want to only do it once. Good luck with that!

There should be some jute padding attached to the cabin side of the firewall. After 50 years it’s probably pretty smelly and worn down. I would replace it with some new stuff or just remove it entirely. Oh and be careful not to bend the upper dash pad too much taking it out. Mine didn’t survive the heat.

New insulation and LED lightbulbs
