Default electyric fuel pump plumbing

I have a1974 Coupe that we just installed a new Summit crate engine. This engine requires a inline electric fuel pump. The pump has been installed at the rear of the tank and now we need to address plumbing to the engine. The original mechanical fuel pump has two lines. One from the tank feeding the carb and another returning to the tank as a vent. Do we need to do this with thew electric pump and if so, how do we accomplish that? Thanks.

I installed a Holley regulator that has a fuel return port, in the engine compartment. Then used a fuel line crimp to an-6 fitting to attach to the supply side. Then plumbed everything to the engine in an-6. I believe the return was an-4
For a while i did not use the return but it will stress the pump as it is always on full bore, having the return keeps it from dead heading

If you are going efi and used the Holley in tank pump, then you would not have to as it has a return that dumps back into the tank, just cap the engine compartment return

The fuel pump is a Carter supplying 5-9 psi. Do I still need to regulate it?

The pump is already mounted in the rear. It's a Carter that supplies 5-9psi. I am using a Holley Brawler carb. No EFI.

I would since most carbs want 4-6 psi depending on the carb. Better than filling your motor with fuel
