Default Max AC Fan Speed Problem

I replaced the heater and a/c controls. Before replacing it the fan would blow on high on all settings when in max a/c. Now it blows the indicated fans speed, ie, low, medium and high. Any idea on why this would occur?

NOW it is working correctly. It should not have blown on high speed regardless of the fan speed selected before. The fan speed selector is the determining factor, not the mode position. MAX a/c mode is exactly the same as the a/c mode position, BUT it recirculates cabin air, where a/c mode uses outside fresh air.

:iagree:

But I think I remember some systems that when the max was on it also over rode the selector and turned the high speed fan on.

Is it different for different years? The owner's manual and the shop manual for the 77 indicate that max air should override the fan position and blow the fan at it's highest setting.

I pulled the invoice and see that it is part number 14020093. A quick Internet search found this as applying to 78 - 82. Did the max ac work the same in these years as I am describing?
