On the topic of rear differentials and rear suspension: Are there conversion options using early C4-style rear units? I understand that the aluminium units are weaker, just some mass savings. The aluminium C4 diffs are available in taller ratios though. I found something where somebody used the C3 batwing to adopt to the cast c3 differential, but it was an old thread with no photos.

Removing my TH-400 3:08 gears and replacing with a 700R4 & 3:73 gears made a night & day change. My car is not only quicker but that 4th gear lowers the RPM at speed which = Better gas mileage.
The 700-R4 is One of the best changes that I have made.
