Hi peeps I'm Rod from Australia new on here.
I have searched but not found the reason / fix for my 74 steering box rebuild issue. It's done and all good on tq wrench in ftpnds ect. My problem is I have the tight spot centred but it has the D flat facing 9 oclock not 12 o'clock.
does this mean I have to undo pitman shaft cover & lift pitman arm to turn my d flat to 12 o'clock position then drop the pitman arm back in ? The yellow dot is 12 o'clock and the 3 white dots are the tight spot. Middle being dead centre of tight spot. So it seems it's 90 deg out lol. Somebody will be along soon to try and help you with your Steering issue. I swapped mine out for a Power Rack and Pinion system years ago. Being here is the first step in getting the answers you are looking for. There is a lot of knowledge on this Corvette Forum.
Well closure on the case anyhoo some dik has fitted a different worm from some other chev box. It works but can never get d flat at 12 o'clock and high spot at 12 o'clock. Bubba I hate you haha. Thanks to Gary for his replying to my personal message asking for help. On centre with D flat at 6 oclock 🤣😂
