Anyone ever mounted Hooker, or other similar sidepipes, the way factory pipes are mounted? Seems like any vibration from the pipes would be better isolated from the bottom mount.

Not sure how that logic works. Never had a vibration issue using the installation kit that comes with them and uses the slots in the side of the frame.
You are using the two rubber bushings on each side pipe mounting tab?

Yep using the Hooker mounting kit. Just seems like I can feel more vibration in my car, 65, than others I've ridden in. New engine mounts new trans mount new diff mount. All stock rubber stuff. The engine is built a little so that may be part of it.
The in my head, using the side mount holes as Hooker does the weight of the side pipes lies on the small center of the bushings and the bolt. Whenever I remove the side tubes the bushings are all distorted. Factory mount is not quite on the bottom but the weight is supported by the larger and thicker part of the bushing. The flat part. Gravity alone is pulling the weight down not sideways. I could certainly by off base Just a thought. Here is a pic from the C2 side.
Just to follow up on this thread. I changed from the side frame mount locations to the bottom frame mount location like stock C2 pipes. Just using the rear most mount, removed the forward mount on the side pipes. The general car vibration or roughness I felt is gone.
