I am in the process of removing the A.I.R. Pump and looking into new headers. Until I get to that point I need to cap off the lines coming from the stock headers to the cross over pipe and all that jazz. Is there a specific method to capping them off? Is there a cap I can pick up at a hardware store to screw on to the existing threads?
Been meaning to jump back on here and close the loop.
Yes, I am doing this as a temporary solution until I can get new headers installed. I found that a 1/2" brass cap worked perfectly. I took off the check valve and matched the threads up at a hardware store.

A LONG time ago when I first put headers on my 82, I used Hedman with the AIR tubes which worked fine. However, later I removed the AIR system and had to cap off the header tubes. I ground them off and welded them up and then had them re-coated. You can't tell they were AIR tube headers. I believe Hedman makes an AIRless tube header for the 82 that will work? Keep in mind that most headers don't fit exactly like they should when they say they are for a particular year. You may have to ding the headers a tad at the bottom, but does not affect the performance. GL
