I'm installing my new Weiand Team G intake today on my ZZ4 crate engine. I pulled the old one off and noticed there are these inserts in the 4 manifold end bolt locations. It appears to be some sort of seal. I've never seen these before and I can't reuse the old ones as they got mangled taking the bolt out. My questions are they necessary and if so what are they called? Hopefully someone will answer soon as I'm ready to bolt down my new intake and if these are necessary I'll have to order some. I have the ZZ4 parts list but I don't see them listed but again I don't know what they are called.
Thanks
I installed without them. They were all stuck in the bolt holes so not sure if they were part of the gasket or not. I used permatex thread sealer on those bolts as well. Should be starting her up today.
Thanks everyone.
The end bolts thread into the water jacket so you should use thread sealer on them. I do it on all intake bolts as a preventative measure. Thermostat housing bolts too.

The 4 end bolts on a small block Chevy intake do not go into the water jacket. I checked.
Neither do the thermostat housing bolts, but it’s wise to use anti seize or some other lubricant regardless. Remember, when applying lubricant to a threaded fastener it increases the clamping force for the same value on a torque wrench. Be sure to compensate for it, many housings have been broken this way.
