I didn't know Lars sold rebuilt Q-jets...I thought only rebuilt Q-jets that you provided to him. Hmmm, that's definitely an option. My main concern is not saving money, but putting the best option on my car.
did you take the rods and jets from your old carb and put them on your new Q-jet? Did you try the Q-jet straight out of the box? What was the difference you got in performance and efficiency when you changed the rods an jets?
and I'll be sure to stay away from the RPM performer. Thanks for the heads up.
Also, since this shows that its a Holley 4165, does this means the carb I have on right now is not the original? Since, as far as I know, the only stock Holley on the 1970 454 is the 4150...
Matched up my engine's suffix code and it shows my car should've come with a Roch Q-jet, so I know this crappy 650cfm Holley can be tossed for all I care.
How would I be able to find out what jets and metering rods came as standard on the Q-jet and how would I use this when I have my mechanic take care of all this stuff?
Pardon my ingnorance but I am a new Vette owner. Who is LARS and how do I contact him. I rebuilt the q-Jet on my '78. Everything seems okay but I am having trouble fine tuning. Might be worth while to have LARS rebuild and tune it.
Re: New Vette Owner and Ignorant (William VanVeghten)
Lars is THE man if you want to rebuild/tune your original Q-jet. He performs miracles, I've heard. You can contact him by getting his e-mail address off of his profile. I think its V8FastCars@msn.com I hope I'm not doing anything wrong by posting it here since its easily available in his profile too. There's also some posting on this forum that should help you fine tune your Q-jet. Just do a search of archived articles in the C3 general section. look for like "Lars Q-jet" or something like that. it might also be on corvettefaq.com
Look at the before pic in my sig. Ther black thing in the center of the pic is the original Q-Jet
I sent it to Lars and he performed a mechanical miracle. It runs like a champ now!
