Anybody know what this flasher the one with the black tape wrapped around itis used for? It’s located behind the steering column. It has three prongs on it.

It charges up when the door is open, and then discharges when you close the door.
So, the longer the door is left open, the longer the darn dome light stays on when you finally close the door.
I replaced mine with a modern circuit board that actually times out the same all the time.

Yes, that is the courtsey light delay timer, 77 only part.
