Battery is good. Courtesy lights go on. It Cranked a little. tried to crank it again (using factory key in original ignition switch). Heard loud pop! Now nothing.
Trying to figure this one out. I did not see any burnt fuses in the fuse box.
Your thoughts?
You will get more responses by posting the year, along with engine, tranny, and other accessories. Is the car all original or has someone done some modifications? My long shot guess is: take a look at the horn relay under the hood, or maybe the fusible link wiring going to the starter. Don’t know if a solenoid will pop when it dies? Pictures are always worth a thousand words.
My Corvette is a 1978 Silver Anniversary model. It has an L48 engine. It is unmodified with 12,000 miles. Original starter and solenoid. Automatic transmission. It has air-conditioning, electric windows, electric door locks. Delco 75S side terminal battery. NCRS Top Flight achieved.
Loud Pop. Hummm.
check both ends of all 3 battery cables. The one under the floor, battery neg. Most likely. The frame to engine block cable is often over looked as well.
Problem solved…Prior Owner had put one of those battery cut off switches that has a green ****, on the positive side of the battery. It should be on the negative side I eliminated the battery cut off switch completely. Charged the battery and reconnected the positive and negative terminals to the battery. It started right up. Thanks for your help. JV
