Default Winshield Wiper Switch **** non delay

I have a '78 without wiper delay but I am missing the ****, otherwise it works fine. Lots of places sell the delay **** with the arrow but I have had no luck with finding the non delay. Does anyone know where to find one?
I'd put in the delay style switch if it would work like my normal two speed just so the annoying bare stem isn't staring at me every time I get in the car, lol. But given all the other components not included in my early build '78 I doubt it's not a straight forward adventure.
Suggestions?

Why not use the one with the arrow and use black permanent marker on the white arrow.

My stem is flat and the delay switch stem is round with a flat spot, like the letter D. So no fit.

Hard to find and don't see them for sale by vendors. Auto parts store should have a Dorman section with a choice of *****. If all else fails try unscrewing the switch from a lamp socket. Might be able to just screw it on while you wait for a correct one. At least hide the stem.

Thank you, I'll take a look in the auto parts stores. Also plan to be searching through the used part vendors at Carlisle this summer.

The pulse wiper **** has been available as a repro for years, but to the best of my knowledge the **** for the two speed wipers has never been repro'd. Looking through the Corvette Parts Book the **** for the pulse wiper **** is listed in the Parts Books, but the **** for the standard wipers is not. So while the **** for the pulse wipers was a separate part from the switch, the **** for the standard switch may have been molded onto the shaft, which would explain why it's not in the Parts Book and likely why it hasn't been reproduced.

The intermittent wipers were part of the RPO ZX2 Convenience Group option that also included interior courtesy lights delay timer, carpeted floor mats, RH visor mirror, low fuel warning light, headlights on warning buzzer and an under hood light. The Convenience Group was optional in 78 and 79 and standard for 80-82. It was a fairly popular option in 78 with all but about 3000 78's (37,200 out of 40,200 cars) coming with it and even though more cars came with it in 79, it was actually a little less popular (41,500 79's with it out of 53,800 cars).

The original part number for the 78-79 standard two speed wiper was 470316.

Gr8 thread bc I have a 78 and have noting but trouble with my washer/wiper system so I had my Vette guy tell me to order one from ZIP Auto..
When I took it to him to install he balked bc he said it was too involved..
So I sent it back to ZIP but I noticed that it came without that round ****. I called them and they said it was not included but they sold them separately!!! Go figure............
Sry for crying............lmbo

My build was Dec '77 and it was ordered with the ZX2 convenience package and has the standard two speed wiper switch.
Question: Will the delay wiper switch work as a standard two speed switch? It won't have the delay but as long as I have two speeds and wash I'd be happy!
Thanks

Have you purchased the other **** and tried to modify it to fit the flat switch actuator?

Funny as I needed a new non-delay wiper switch in my '78 as the original wiper panel was loose and light plate behind appeared damaged. Bought a new intermitttent switch from corvette central and found out it not only comes w/o ****, but the buttons arent interchangeable. I think 9.95 just for the delay button, plus shipping of course as i didnt know when i placed the order.....

Anyway, have old switch with button you need. PM me your info, address etc and I'll ship button head you need in mail. Good deed for the day anyway lol!

And you cannot drill a hole the same diameter as the shaft?

I think you have that backwards, The **** available is for the intermittent switch which has a D shaped hole in it to match the D shaped shaft of the intermittent wiper switch. The two speed switch the OP has has a flat shaft making it pretty hard to adapt the available intermittent ****. Basically you'd need to be able insert a flat shaft in a round hole.

After thinking about it a little, the wiper **** used on 68-76 Corvettes might work, but the 68-76 ***** are not round. The 68-76 wiper switch has a flat shaft similar to the 78-79 two speed switch, I just don't know if the shaft is the same size as the 78-79 shaft. The 68-72 **** says "Washer Push" on it, while the 73-76 **** has an arrow on it, but either could be blacked out (the listing says 77 but that's a typo since the 77 wiper switch is in the steering column).

Here are links to the 68-72 and 73-76 ***** if the OP would like to try one.

To compare the shaft of the 68-76 switch to the shaft in the 78-79 switches, here is the 68-76 wiper switch.
