Driving down day and i noticed that my night time speedometer lights are out. When it happen i saw some smoke coming from the left side of my dash. The center gauge lights comes on but i have no speedometer light when i turn on my light. Turn signal lights work, speedometer works, the rpm works. Dan it be a bad circuit board? When i turn on the lights there is no signal lights when i use them but when i turn off the lights they work.
It's a 1981 c3. Sorry but yes my lights were working but I've day i went to pull the **** to turn on my lights.. no lights on the clusters. The it smelled like wires were burning and i saw lite smoke coming up from the left side of my dash. Turn signal lights cover on when the switch is off, but when I turn it on the turn signal lights don't flash.
Have you ever had the dash cluster out? From what you describe it does seem like the dash cluster printed circuit board kinda burned a little. I just checked and ALL the major C3 vendors have the printed circuit board in stock. (GM part #25023577). All those Corvette vendors having the PC board in stock tells me it's common for that board to go bad. Really need to pull the cluster to check. Also, you'll need to find out what caused the PC board to short out. Good luck.
