Default NCRS Windshield

Hello everybody and thank you for taking the time to read this email and your feedback. I am looking to replace the windshield on my 1972 Corvette as it’s not original. Does anybody have any suggestions for any manufacturers that have the closest thing you can get that will work for NCRS judging. Appreciate all you guys and most of all. I just wanna give you a heads up that the Cowboys are going to the Super Bowl this year.😃

The only company that I am aware of that is still creating (somewhat correct) restoration glass for our Corvettes is Auto City Classic.

As far as judging goes (NCRS/Bloomington Gold), there are definitely some differences in configuration from the original glass which means you are going to lose a few points. Still, you can get the correct manufacturer and date etching so it will get you more points than anything outside of the original glass. Not sure where the etching is done (probably here in the US), but the glass is being sourced overseas. As such, there was a considerable lead time (six months) the last time I purchased from them (about three years ago)… Not sure where they are at now, but it probably isn’t any better so keep that in mind.

Hope that this helps.

Regards,

Stan Falenski

Purchased Windshield from Auto City Classic wasn't worried about numbers matching since I was all about the fit since the first windshield I got from local glass vendor and did not fit my 76.

Was not so sure about ordering and shipping a windshield but very surprised when it showed up 5 days later and fit like a glove also very impressed with packaging to protect the glass.

I live about an hour’s drive from Auto City so I was able to pick up my windshield directly from them.

As @Rowdy Rat said, it is the only place you can buy one. The tint is not identical to OEM and the glass is slightly thinner than OEM but I’m very happy with mine. My glass was manufactured in Thailand.

Anyone know if Auto City is still date coding windshields? I don't see that option on their website. I have inquiry in to them about it.

They still do, or at least did as of a few months ago. I don't know how you request date coding when placing an order online with them, I always place my orders with them by phone.

Was recently helping someone with his NCRS 70 car, and he had to buy a 2nd replacement windshield.
The original aftermarket glass he received did not fit in the car.
We measured it against my OEM but cracked 72 glass.
His was maybe an 1/8-1/4" longer than mine, from top to bottom, and it hit both the wiper components, and the upper frame clips, at the same time.
It would have had to be sanded or shaved to fit.
No I do not know the mfgr.
But buyer beware!
