What controls the current to tge seat belt light?
I always thought it went through the ignition key. Lately the 1980 won’t start unless the sest belt light comes on. Which is most likely the faulty part???
I'll try help here but my car is older, so likely somewhat different. I can't understand how the seatbelt warning light has anything to do with it. But perhaps it is just a sign that circuits are not getting power?
here's the 77 wiring for the seatbelt warning light.
I'm also uncertain as to what a column switch is. Ignition switch is mounted to the top side of the column just inside the dash panel. Basically above your feet. The part you put a key into is just a cylinder that pushes and pulls things mechanicly.
When you say, "it won't start" .
Are you saying it is dead and won't turn over? Or is the engine spinning but not firing?
Is this a Manual or Automatic car?
The seatbelt warning light is just a warning, the warning buzzer only controls how long the light stays ON once the ignition switch is turned to the run or start positions.
The off delay time for the lamp is between 4 & 8 seconds.
