Hi guys, I need to install a fresh fuel pump on my 1982 C3. Running the original setup and willing to keep it close to original. Bought a second original intake manifold and currently in the process of porting it. Have got a fresh set of gaskets for full TBI service rebuild and a fuel pressure assembly from Xfireperformance. Have read that it would be better to install a 85-89 fuel pump to get consistent and sufficient fuel pressure at TBI-s. Specialized Corvette webshops are offering a variety of fuel pumps with very different specs and pressure/volume figures. Have you got first hand experience with this kind of upgrade and what would you recommend? I am willing to get 13-15 PSI at TBI units, most available fuel pumps are 50 PSI or more. Leaning towards a AC Delco original part for 85-89. Are higher pressure fuel pumps going to damage TBIs? What else do I need to know? Thank you!
The 85-89 unit is fine. Remember, the fuel bladder/pressure regulator in the TBIs wasnt designed to step down 50+ psi to 13-15.
The delco (L98) pump pushes 25-30 IIRC so even half dead it will give you 13-15psi and not blow out the TBI pressure bladder.
I have a ZZ4 crate motor with XFire top end and it feeds it fine (with 454SS pods)!

Like mentioned, you are fine using the 85-87 corvette pump. Pumps are not rated in psi, they are rated in either liters per hour or gallons per hour, flow. You regulate the injectors to 13psi and be happy as long as your pump can provide the flow needed at that regulated pressure.
I feel stupid asking this, but there are pumps marked 85-87; 85-89 and 85-91. I am living in Europe, so not all of these options are available without a hefty shipping cost.
Found a Carter P90014 that says 85-87, not available here. US MOTOR WORKS USEP3210 85-87, also not available. Others seem to be 85-89 or 85-91.
Looking at Delphi FE0110, that is available here. Correct 1985 GM part number is listed. Delphi says it fits 85-91. Will that work or are 87-91 pump models different than 85-87? Electric Fuel Pump - FE0110 - Delphi Technologies
Thanks in advance!

Here is the pump you need to get, not sure if the price will be the same anymore with tariffs and what not, but it may be close. This is a direct fit in tank pump. I ran this type of pump for a number of years, before changing to a 255 lph pump to feed my motor...GL AC Delco fuel pump. 85-87 corvette.PN: EP241$74 USD
