Default 69 w/Tremec Interlock Override??

I installed a Tremec TKX in my formerly automatic 69. When I installed the Tremec, I wired the interlock lever on the steering column all the way down. This allows the key to go in the start and run position BUT since the lever doesn't come up, the steering won't lock and you cannot remove the ignition key.

What have others done to retain all the positions of the ignition switch (accessory, lock, start and run?)

Thanks

Interlock lever needs to be wired all the way up to be able to remove key and for the other key functions to work. You do loose the ability to lock the steering wheel though.
It's the trade off you have to make.

Thanks - mine is wired down now and the start, run and off positions all function but I can't get the key out (doesn't go into "lock") - If I wire it all the way up, I think it will allow the key to be returned to the lock and acc positions but will it also allow for the start and run positions to work? I would like to be able to have the car start and run but also return to the lock position so the key can be removed....

Others must have faced this issue - solutions?? Thanks

If the new transmission has no external levers I see no way to move the cable.

I am reading this sticky: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...unction-3.html

And in particular, post #46 - This state that the lever should be in the all the way up position and my question is...If I wire it all the way up, I think it will allow the key to be returned to the lock and acc positions (and the key to be removed) but will it also allow for the start and run positions to work? I would like to be able to have the car start and run but also return to the lock position so the key can be removed....

Mine is "locked" in the UP position and all functions work. (Lock steering, on/start, Acc & key removal)

Barry - Thank you - this is the response I was hoping for. You would think that Silver Sport, which sells the Tremec TKX kits, would advise you of this so you can have a properly functioning ignition key that locks, starts, runs, returns to lock and the key can be removed

Correction to my earlier post: All key functions work, including steering lock with interlock lever secured in full up position. Just as Barry mentioned

I'm glad it worked for you. You may want to mention this to SST. I'd heard of the wired-up level trick, but don't have a C3 with that feature. You might save some future TKX swappers some grief.
