Is there supposed to be an electrical ground wire in addition to the power that attaches to the cigarette lighter? I've got my whole console apart, and I can't find an available ground line that attaches to it. Any ideas?
There is a ground wire. It is attached to a ring that goes on the lighter between the console and the lighter and is held in place by the pressure against the console. Let me know if you need a picture. I jjust happen to have mine apart working on the heater and a/c controls.
A picture would be great, if it isn't too much trouble. Do you know where that ground wire connects to? If for some reason mine is no longer present, I may have to come up with something to replace it!
My ground is just a wire that a couple of inches long and screws into a metal bracket that the console mounts too. The only wire thats connected to the wiring harness is the orange ground.
My experience: Make sure the battery is disconnected, if that orange wire touches anything metal then you get a little shock and blow out the glass on that fuse. (I never claimed to be the brightest person)
