Replaced burned up neutral safety switch, now no start issue. When turning to start a loud squealing comes from engine compartment and neutral safety switch gets hot. any help? Have 1977 coupe with auto trans. New battery, tested starter and it's working. Think noise is from alarm system.

Need more info. Sharing your cars info is helpful too and you could consider filling out your profile to state what you have.
Neutral Safety Switch (NSS) should NOT get dang hot. Disconnect that for now. Take some pictures of your wiring at the NSS and in the starter area where all the wiring comes in.
WHY did you replace the NSS?

Welcome to the forum.
Loud squealing sound and nut switch gets hot.
OK, so you have an automatic. Bummer.
I'd pull that starter and check it out.
If you are unclear as to how yo bench test a starter take it into a automotive parts store. Many have the ability to test a starter.
When the starter is out, put a wrench on the front pulley and see if the engine turns.
I have a 1981,so not sure if this would be like yours not knowing your year model, but since you replaced the neutral safety switch,it’s turning over, new switch is working correct, mine when ever replacing the new switch, the gear shifter has to be in neutral, and putting it on small pin to align it,so like I said, that’s on a 1981,and mine cranked right up.
Just tossing this out, with all the plethora of info provided. Replaced burned out switch, and new one gets hot. Whatever causes the new one to get hot, burned out the old one. Loud squealing, not turning over? Could that be the starter trying to turn, and not able to? Have someone try to turn it over, get under the hood and listen. Front or back, right or left, top or bottom? What’s there? It does sound like either starter or engine is locked from what little info you give.
