I need to replace my brake light switch on my 68. My manual doesn't show how to replace it. Has anyone attempted this? not sure how to get at it without taking the dash apart.
Take the drivers seat out and lay on your back, it seems impossible, but it isn't. I did it on mine. There should be several threads on it if you do a search. I didn't remove the seat, but wish I had.
I only read bad things about the available replacement switches, that's why I installed a ordinary switch . I also couldn't work out how to get to this switch. It is hardly visible.
It is rather easy to install a 69 switch.

Pulling the seat is the best idea.....take a picture before you remove it to get it back in correctly....being upside down in a cramped area will mess with your mind when yo go to put it back in
Use a bench located outside the car to rest your legs on. Working in those tight quarters is no picnic, the more you read and look at how others tackled the job will be extremely helpful. The seat removal is a no brainer. Are you 1000 % positive that the switch is bad? ? ? I changed out the hood cold air intake door switch ( located behind the accelerator pedal), you guessed right, it wasn’t the switch! The problems was caused by the accelerator pedal not hitting the switch arm. The fix was to add a piece of rubber so the accelerator would hit the switch. Live and learn.
