I have used Valvoline Racing oil in all my Hot Rod motors. Never had a failure.

Try the Valvoline full synthitic and watch for leaks, if it starts dripping then switch back to the dino valvoline.

And yes the racing valvoline is worth it.... :seeya

If it's been sitting awhile it should definetly be changed.
I use 10w-30 and believe any major brand is as good as the next. But, then I have a SB. What do I know?

I have used Moble one 10/30 , with quality oil filter on my 427 , last 6 years.........works for me. :steering: no leaks.......engine rebuilt in 1994, used Quaker state conventional oil , initially while engine breaking in.

Another vote here for Mobil1 synthetic. 10w-30 in the colder winter months, 15w-50 in the hot summer months.

I put my bigblock together with fairly tight clearances and run Kendal 10-30. My hot oil pressure is around 45-50 at idle and 70 hot while cruising. If yours is put together loose or your oil pressure is not good go with 10-40.
I only use dino oil. I change my oil often and don't need the long term effects or the cost of synthetics.
I also think dino oil is better for cars that sit alot and are only driven on weekends. I think synthetic drains off between startups more.
