I am doing a radiator swap on my 1975 Corvette and came across this odd looking plug dangling under the passenger side headlight. Anyone know what it's for? It doesn't appear to have been connected to anything in a long time.
It’s the “headlights fully open” sensor. When you pull the headlight switch the “head lamps” light will light up on the center console. When the headlights are fully up the button on this switch is pressed and that light will turn off. It’s supposed to have a threaded stud coming out the front, as well as the two halves to be snapped together. It’s likely somebody pushed on and broke it when trying to actuate the headlights by hand.

No. It functions as it should. That's why I wondered about leaving it disconnected. Dash light on when headlights on, off when they're off.
I think the light is supposed to go out once the headlights fully pop up. I don't have the light on my car, but reading what Piersonpie wrote- 1st reply to thread- the light should go out
Perhaps it’s stuck pressed, probably from being taken apart, making the circuit rely on the other headlight. You could replace it for fairly cheap or leave it as is if it’s not bothering anything.

As stated above, that is NOT the way the indicator lights are supposed to work. The dash light will come on when you pull the switch and should go off when the headlights reach full up position. That is a normally closed switch and will turn the dash light off when it opens at full up.
There is a switch on both headlight assemblies, and either one closed, normal state, even broken as yours is, will keep the dash light on.
Dash light should go out when the headlight doors are fully open. That is what that switch does. It has nothing to do with the opening of the door. c69vete is correct and the picture posted by Piersonpie shows where it goes and what the switch looks like. The dash light is a WARNING light that one or both of your headlight buckets is NOT open as stated in the owners manual.
