Hi, up until recently the wipers were working fine but no longer. I have tested a number of things, the wiper motor is working fine when I jumped power to it with another battery. The vacuum system is okay and the wiper door opens correctly allowing the safety limit switch to close but at this limit switch I'm only getting about 5 Volts, tracing back to the under dash override switch there is only about 5 Volts as well. My question is where does this switch get fed from? Is there a common connection on the light switch? The headlights are working fine as are all the other controls.
If 71 is the same as 72 there is a relay under the center console. It' been a while since I looked at the circuit so I can't remember what it does. I'll look when I get home from work unless someone else chimes in.
Thanks, I was hoping it might be somewhere easy to get to but no such luck, so drop the steering column and pull the dash panel back and dive in FWIW I had to do this back in March so I could lube the speedometer cable so maybe something in the wiring was disturbed? They were definitely working after that though

Hi,I think that relay is switching the grounds on the wiper motor and is controlled by the wiper switch so I'm thinking its unlikely to be the cause of my problem but Its still on the list.
It is crimped in the harness-inside the passenger cabin near the headlight switch.
Been awhile since I took a harness apart- so i don't have any pics
Seems a PO had fitted a new wire to feed power to the wiper override switch, it was piggy backed onto a connector on the headlight switch but their solder joint had gone dry and fell apart when I wiggled it.

Glad you found it!!
Well - found the pics- this is how GM did it back in the day!

Seems I'm only halfway fixed. Wipers are working but every time I turn them on the windshield washer also works and won't stop until I turn the wipers off.
