Hey! I just installed a new console fan switch (76, with A/C), along with new heater controls. However, even at "off" setting, the fan still runs. It does speed up as expected at higher fan settings I did a bit of Googling and read somewhere (can't remember where) someone saying it is normal, the reason being to keep airflow in the cab at all times. Is this true, or not?
If not - what might be the issue? I thought maybe I mistakenly got sent a fan switch for a non-A/C vehicle (dunno why that may be the cause, though), I haven't got the AC working yet, maybe there is something linked with that.
Yes, That is true.
Lately during this heat wave - I just unplug the fan harness for the top of the AC Box. I'll plug it back in when it cools off.
Mines a big block with little insulation and worn carpet - this machine will cook you.
I'm going to replace the interior this fall and put foil backed reflective insulation, then new carpet to reduce the heat from the engine and exhaust.
Should Add....my AC Compresser went south.

Reason: No AC
The easiest way to disable the fan running on LOW speed anytime the ignition switch is ON is to remove the Yellow wire & terminal (Circuit 51) from the fan speed resistor connector.
You will need to insulate the terminal once removed with shrink-wrap or vinal tape as the exposed terminal is HOT anytime the ignition switch is ON.
All the fan speeds will still work as designed...
I wouldn't cut the wire just remove & insulate the terminal from the housing...
