Well im down to last few items to order for my 70, im down to which chambered side pipes to order.
Looks like High Flo Performance is my only choice for chambered side pipes as Allen's is no longer in business.
High Flo offeres stock sound and mild sound... looking for some feedback on both.
Have you checked Classic Chambered Exhaust? The owner will make what ever you want or choose from his inserts.
I’m running the VettePack inserts, not for the faint of heart, but I’m old and half deaf so it brings me back to life….

I have the wild version....not for the faint of heart...cant help with the other two yet....Im considering the mild version in a 2.25 inch pipe. I think its the biggest they can fit in the chamber and still have the fiberglass baffle

I have a major hearing loss and I have been "tortured" by long rides in a 1967 C2 with side-pipes. I love the sound but not the Noise. I have a set of Allen's Stainless Exhaust Chambered pipes and they were offered in three levels of sound. Stock, Mid-level and NOISY, I have the mid-level as they are pretty loud behind the car but while driving you can listen to the stereo.
Chambered Pipes like mine have no removable baffles inside them. The baffles are inside the system with no options available after they were built. Using the Chambered pipes with a set of long tube headers from Hedman the sounds coming from the rear of the car is music. With 12.25-1 compression and a tweaked 427 BB engine the exhaust "spits" and "pops" out the pipes in the rear without any exhaust crossover pipe to confuse which side was firing. I bought my system in Aluminized Steel and it is still working 30 years later.
The sounds coming from the chambered exhaust say that this engine is something to fear, where the factory exhaust sounded like a kitten purring.
I don’t think he is referring to the pops you hear from a lean burn engine.
He is referring to the sounds of a high compression, cammed big cubic inch big block.
There is no better sound coming from two individual dual exhaust pipes.
No X or H pipes just raw muscle.
I've got the 2.25" baffle with ceramic blanket version that Rescue Rogers mentioned, along with the Hedman side exit headers. It's pretty quiet at tickover or low speed cruise, but gets very aggressive when you accelerate hard.

I just got off the phone with Ryan at HighFlo Performance about the 2.25 inch pipes and he hadnt heard back from anyone on their experience with these. Im glad I saw your post. I am looking for something like that. Hoping to not lose too much power. Im hoping the straight through design will make up for the diameter loss.
RIght now they hear me coming from 1/4 mile away at normal speeds with the wild version so I am going to get these later this Sept. I like them but the police at the beaches are tired of the locals complaining about the youngsters with their rev limiter antics an their pop off valve demonstrations. This would be good if they hold the sound down somewhat reasonably up to 3500-4000 rpm. With the 5 speed I am cruising at 2700 rpm at 70-75 mph. I might put an electronic dump valve in front of the elbow if I go racing again and want it loud and those few extra horse

Im putting back on my C3 style 2.5 inch pipes until I can pick up some quieter chambered pipes.....THe wild ones get loud on long rides on the side roads without the headphones. I cut them off after the turn to use the slip fit C2 style and I have a band clamp to butt them back together. Should be fine for the next month

I hope I havent gone too quiet... talked with Ryan at HFP a while today and settled on the mild, im using these headers instead of finding original exhaust manifolds, should be easy enough to tie into the side pipe header pipes.
I have the Classic Chambered 20-20 Corvette side pipe exhaust on my 69. I run shorty S/S headders, 2.5 in S/S pipe fitted to the chambered pipe, terminated with the Sweet Thunder 69 tips. This all fits under the 69 factory chrome covers. I love the sound. Not too loud at idle but sounds off when under acceleration.

I run the Hedman side exhaust headers with the ball and socket flange. I had the 69 style and measured the distance when I received the C2 chambered WILD style with the slip fit joint and cut enough that when they slipped together the bolt eye would line up in the back. I talked with a gentleman that has the quiet ones and he says they get plenty loud when you flatten the pedal. I think I will be going with those eventually and adding in an electric cutout to make them obnoxious when I want to show off and have that bit of extra horsepower.
