I have a 1964 Vert. The emblems on the motor state"327/300H.P." One of my friends thinks that it is a 350 motor. Probably not original. Where do I look to get the numbers and once I have them, how can I tell if it is a 350 motor and from what year? Thanks for your help. :D

Look on the pad just in front of the head on the passenger side. It's where the block deck extends out from under the head. You may need to just post the numbers here. If it's not original the block could have been out of just about anything.
Look for the embossed casting number on the block just behind the driver's side head. That will help determine the CID of your engine. The info on the pad, as described by Steve, will narrow down the application. Only problem is, sometimes you will find a blank pad on an engine if it has been decked during a rebuild, or never stamped at all.
Look on the back of the block...drivers side....bellhousing flange. You'll see a casting number. On the passengers side....bellhousing flange up near/behind the distributor, you'll find a casting date. It will be something like A 11 4 Jan. 11, 1964, or 74, or 84, etc.
Post both sets of numbers that you find. That will tell you if you have a 327 or a 350 block. It will also tell you the date. Chuck
Re: Where can I Find Engine Numbers? (Chuck Gongloff)
If you look at the front of the block, passenger side, as shown in the link 78Vette-SA, the last two or three letters (two for your year) will show the engine suffix to quickly find what engine type and transmission you have. This was easier for me to find since I have a 70 BB, and couldn't find the casting number too easy.
