I have ordered two and neither blower fan fits, the motor fits but the fan itself is wrong. I have a 79 L82 with AC, a mouse ate the old fan but the first one I ordered it is too long, the second one is is too small in diameter and length. The one that came out of the car is 2 3/4" thick, and a bit over 5 1/4" in diameter on the motor side. Any help on what actual part number I need would be great. The part number on the fan itself is 303693, the motor has 5044 83006 D29 9 on it.
Okay, after many searches and cross referencing I found no parts store that has the right part for the car listed. I found the correct GM part is 15-80666(fan and blower). I found a a cross reference for a carquest Part No. 35345 and it matches up with the actual fan/motor I pulled out. Just in case anyone else runs into this problem. I have no idea why every single car parts store lists the wrong fans and motors.
Before you go to all this trouble, most people swap out the oem squirrel cage with one from a C4. You have to make an adapter to mount it to the heater box, but it's not difficult. Do a search on the forum and there are lots of threads. The C4 will blow better than the C3 cage does.

Well... its a little later, already got a new cage and motor and stuck it in. It seems to blow enough, I am resealing everything and considering the amount of crap and mouse houses I pulled out of it I am sure it is better than it was.
Also make sure you have a good ground. These are just common issues that come up with C3 heaters. Just trying to keep you from having to go back. And welcome to the club.
