I’m putting my headlight doors back on after paint. I had to get new ones from a different car ( not repop) because mine were so buggered up. I went to put them in and they needed to go twards the center of the car more but that bearing stop collar was too thick and it wouldn’t go any more. Any one have this issue. I’m going to go to the local bearing place tomorrow abd see if they have a shaft collar that’s thinner. That would work for sure. But if they don’t what else have you guys done.
it’s moved all the way in and can’t move any more.
Something somewhere likely bent but if painted too late or too risky to bend back imo.
Would it work to grind the OEM stop thinner making sure the set screw stays intact?
I suppose you could drill and tap a new set screw location maybe if you had to?

I have a sneaking suspicion that when the paint guy changed the head light support bar either he installed the new one a hair to far to the driver side or the bolt holes are in a different spot than the original because repops are never perfect
Interesting so if grinding the stop thinner to get it to fit will not work maybe you can slot the headlight support horse shoe and move it over a little? ?

I only need it a hair over like .25 or .33 of an inch. I’m going to try a smaller stopper if that doesn’t work I’m going to see about slotting the headlight horse shoes. But those are factory and I don’t really want to be modifying factory parts
I went to the local bearing place today. Grabbed a shaft collar drilled it out to fit the shaft. Chucked it up in a lathe and turned it down. After a bit of work I got the lid close enough to be where I want it. I’ll post pics tomorrow
