Starter is 1998241 2013 and when I first try to start it it clicks and that’s it then I try again and it does start. I am just trying to fix it before I get stuck somwhere. Does the solenoid only need replaced or the entire starter?
If it’s the starter is the AC Delco replacement better or the Remy replacement ?
If you are looking to replace it and are not concerned about originality, I went with Powermaster, the PowerMax Starters 9202 to be exact. It is smaller, lighter, and works amazingly. It was a direct replacement.
EDIT: SORRY, I thought this was on the C2 Forum.

After checking and cleaning all the connections as suggested if the problem still exists Id rebuild the solenoid which should be fairly easy to do. I cant recommend a brand- I bought a solenoid rebuild kit on Amazon and it only fit after modifications. Make sure your battery is good as well.
As others have mentioned your solenoid clicking issue is 90% of the time:
A really poor GRD. The solenoid is getting juice to activate it, but a poor GRD cancels some amps.
The solenoid also sends the 700 or so cranking amps to the starter.
The rear will have be put up on jackstands to locate the batteries NEG GRD at the frame. That location gets all the road grime, rust, corrosion, etc.
It's prone to offer electrical issues.
Those old Delco starters will out-live 3 solenoids. The solenoid does all the grunt work while starter is just along for the ride.
The solenoid is activated all the time the IGN key is on. The starter is not.
You can pull the starter and replace just the solenoid, inexpensively ($28). If you do buy a new solenoid, look for heavy duty or a unit with a brown end-cap.
That is ceramic and able to handle the exhaust pipe heat better.
A starter wrap, shield or blanket is always a good idea. Especially when headers are involved.
If you elect to pull the starter, tag all solenoid wires with masking tape / Sharpie for future reference. Better yet, take a picture.
Don't forget to disconnect the batt first.

For most folk, the Remy modern Permanent Magnet Gear Reduction replacement (or similar) is better,
And I cannot tell which starter you have; that po excuse for a link doesn't work for me.
I believe ACDelco and Remy were the same company at one time. But I have seen reviews that agree that the Remy is better. Delco is made in China and Remy in France. Thanks.

Look into Charles Kettering as a Founding Father; fascinating career. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_F._Kettering
Yes, Delco-Remy was one company that was for decades a division of GM; finance agreements, fortunes, world politics and reliabilities change. Similar for AC Delco. China is a relatively recent "complication".
Remy spirits are French, Remy starters for chevrolet are not.
