Hey guys.. I'm using this Corvette America interior dye from zip.. they suggest a color called "Royal Blue" for 1971 as well as 1972. It's the only blue called out for these years.. The color match is not great. I just wonder if it's a mistake or if the years altered the original color... Here's a photo.. you can see the console and the arm rest are this newer Royal Blue.. the dash pad is still original color.. I do like the new royal better.. just curious if anyone has had a similar color mismatch experience.

I saw that a youtube guy (The Driveway) had to dye his brand new door panels after doing other interior parts with dye in order to get them to match up. This with his even being in black, which you would think would be an easy match up. He did not like the sheen difference between the new parts and the dyed stuff.
The parts you’ve done look good! Looks like you are kind of stuck doing those dash components too. Should look great once all together though.
The Blue interiors changed a little over the years. There were several shades, maybe as many as four. But only 68 had two blues, bright and dark. 68 Bright Blue 68 Dark Blue
69-70 Had Bright Blue, but may not be quite as bright as 68s
71-72 had Royal Blue
Your dash pads do look more like the 70 Bright Blue Color.
Now colors on the computer are seldom perfect.
And the colors do fade with time, but they seem to go dull, or get darker with time, never brighter.
Perhaps someone changed yours out?
Or could your car be a very early production 71 and GM used some leftover 70 parts? Especially since the 70 run was so shortened?
I've seen these bright blues.. I don't believe that's it.. it's a mystery.. I don't think my interior was swapped out either.. perhaps it was leftover from 70s and used on early production.. I see on zip they call out 68-70 as bright blue only blue option.. it's feels darker then those. It's nearly exactly like this photo from this other member in 2014.. that does not look bright blue to me

Corvette America / Topflight actually makes the interiors.
Not Zip or C Central, they just distribute them.
Al Knoch does also.
Some say his quality and correctness is higher.
I had 1971 Dark Saddle dye from Mid-America, 2 cans. I had them for years as I only needed a little at the time I bought them and bought 2 because I had plans. I finally used all of it up and needed a little more to do some more in my rear compartment. I went to Mid-America and they had it but when it arrived it was completely different and not even the right color. Now I'm kind-of screwed unless change over to this new color that isn't even close to 1971 Dark saddle.
