Spelling names

Why do we refer to a corvette as a 'Vert' and not a 'Vette"? I was just wondering. :bb

I'm pretty sure that "vert" is referencing convertable.

Vert is short for convertible, not Vette. :thumbs:

My wife asked me this question the other day. I told her it was convertible. She said "Oh that makes sense. I was wondering why people called their cars perverts"
