My vette is a '77 350 with rebuilt calipers from a well know rebuilder: however I did have to send back the left rear because of the leaking bleeder. Here is what I have done so far on the rears, have not touched the frony ones as of yet.
1. The rear is on jack stands and the Master C is level.
2. First attempt to bleed was using (2) pieces of Clear hose and a check valve in the middle. It sounded easy but after pumping the brakes and running back and forth resulted in frustration.
3. Next I tried to gravity bleed. after 3 quarts of dot 3 I gaveup. Now the pedal is down to the floor and doesn't up up. Actually it has never come back to a normal position.
4. I install new flex hoses all 4 corners and SS rear lines another 2 quarts of Dot 3 gone to waste.
5. tried to gravity bleed again, still not pedal. More Dot 3
6. Bought a motivre pressure bleeder from Amazon thinking I would really get some results.
7. I have been through almost 2 quarts of Dot3 and all I get is thousands of bubbles on both inside and out side of the rear calipers.and a dead pedal.
8 I am convencied that this Red Devil is possessed. I have read a lot of comments on the forum but nothing seems to work. thinking of selling my car. before I lose my mind
Did you bench bleed the master cylinder, tilting in both directions and giving light strokes until the bubbles stop? Then tilting the other direction (forward then back) and repeat? All the air needs to get out of the master first.
Mount the master to the car then remove the bleed hoses before attaching the brake lines. Then fill the resevoirs and clamp the top of the bleeder to the master cylinder. Bleed the passenger side rear inner screw first then the outer screw. Check resevoir and top off. Move to the drivers side rear and bleed the inner screw first, then outer. Move to the front passenger side and bleed all the bubbles out on that side. Top off reservoirs. Finish up at the drivers side and done.
Pressurize the system with your Motive bleeder to around 10 - 15 psi. Mix some warm water and dish soap in a spray bottle. Spray all your lines and fittings. The Motive bleeder pump handle will leak some air, so don't worry if the gauge drops off. Any leaks in your brake system should be evident quickly.
The fact that your pedal doesn't up up as you put it.
Sounds like a genuine concern. If the pedal doesn't come all the way back up. The piston in the master cylinder obviously isn't fully retracting. This is a problem. The pedal should come all the way back up even if you have air in the system.
Remove the master. Check the pedal and rod for proper operation. Do you have something misaligned? Is the brake booster binding? Find the problem with the brake pedal returning.
Now that I think about all of the possibilities, The MC was a very difficult to push the piston in trying to bench bleed. I have had it out 2 times thinking it was me now I'm pretty much convinced I have a defective MC. I bought I from a local Corvette parts dealer so there is now telling how long it may have been in inventory or maybe I just got one that was defective from the manufacturer. I did check the part number and it is correct. I will buy another MC and see if that helps.

Sometimes ya just get a bad one. Just cause it's new doesn't mean it's necessarily good. And perhaps, just maybe. You pushed the piston in to far when bench bleeding. This will destroy a master straight away.
