Default Engine numbers - any meaning?

I’m trying to find some information on my engine, if it’s available. The previous owner told me that it was rebuilt and a small cam added (it lopes nicely, so I believe him). I didn’t think to ask and now am having a hard time getting hold of him, so here’s my question:

Can you tell what motor was used by the block numbers? I have my carb off now (sent to Lars), so I could see the number at the rear of the block. The number is 14810207.

The intake manifold has the number14014482 and appears to be aluminum.

Do either of these mean anything :conehead ? Your help is appreciated.

The block is ... 80-85 350... 2 or 4 bolt mains.

The intake is 14014432 (not 82) That is 81 Z-28 350 aluminum

The casting number on my original engine 1980 is not very clear. You cannot easily tell a "0" from an "8". I believe the block is 1401207 (350 ci). This matches the casting number in the Corvette Black Book.

My intake is pn 14014432 (not 82) and it is aluminum. This intake was used on all engines in 1980 (L48, L82, LG4).

Several sources for casting number information, one of them is at:

Thanks mapman.

When I read through my shop manual, it is claiming that the L48 and the LG4 had cast, with the L82 being the only motor using the aluminum intake (in 1980). That's part of the reason I questioned the motor in the beginning.

I think I'll recheck the number tonight - no beer first!

In 1979 the L48 had the cast intake. For 1980, as part of the weight reduction effort, all engines used the same aluminum intake manifold.
