Why did I think Cali's response would involve a rice-mobile?
Oil is not a problem.... getting rid of 10 year old gasoline out of a C-3 is. I've been dumping in a half gallon at a time in my Ford truck tank everytime I fill up. I started with about 13 gallons.... 4 more to go.
I take it down to the airport maintenance hangar and put it in the used oil barrel which gets pumped out weekly. The airport is closer than autozone and is open twice as long.
I also force RiceBoys to drink it, I have them convinced that it adds 25% HP.
I have a friend who takes the mobil 1 out of his 93 'vette after 3,000 miles and puts in his little toyota pickup for 5,000 miles. He's got tons of miles on the pickup and it still runs like a top!!!
Man, you guys are scaring me with this dumping on the ground and flushing stuff. Just something to think about - in large cities(such as Chicago) the water you drink is old toilet water from about five years ago. True story.
Wow, I had no idea there are so many other options that getting it recycled! :nono: I can't even fathom pouring it down a drain. I even hate to throw out oily rags, and I use spray cleaners and degreasers very sparingly.
I usually pour it in a nice 5 gallon metal can that laquer thinner came in and take it to Kragen and dump it off but one day that 5 gallon bucket looked like the perfect thing to put under the tounge of the boat NOT A GOOD IDEA because the next day the can was a little different shape and the oil was used as a concrete sealant :banghead: :banghead:
I save mine in a 4 litre saline diluent reagent bottle. Then take it to the local Autozone. Heck, I spend enough money there its the least they can do!
Sell it on ebay is the best suggestion. To think we have been just giving it way all this time! You could also use it here :lurk: Many of the stores around here make you bring it back in the original bottle. This makes for ours of fun playing with funnels, wiping up spills and spreading speedy dry. My town takes it at the recyling center. Just dump it into the tank from the drain pan.
