Looking for input on the upgraded fuel pump, Part number is an EP241/GM#25116163, that is widely shared as a remedy for weak fuel pressure with the 82 Crossfire setup.
I have made this switch , drove for a few 100 miles and recently started blowing the fuel pump fuse (10A) in that circuit. My actual measurements with this new pump, are showing 9.5A steady state. The surge on this circuit hasn't been measured yet with a scope...but pretty sure its in the mid teens.
BTW ... the new pump is a definite improvement in driveability ...
I'm thinking of just bumping up to a 15 or 20A fuse...
I believe the original application is 1985 Corvette and it appears it also used 10 amp fuse. Is something restricting the fuel pump output? Damaged line, filter, regulator, etc.?
I'd make sure the wiring can handle that before changing the fuse. Even in 1982, GM was unlikely to put in wiring rated for more than the fuse.
Some versions of the wiring diagrams have the gauge called out. Another option is to run a new line, and use the stock wire as a signal wire for a new fuel pump relay.
Some wiring diagrams are here. I didn't immediately see the fuel pump called out.
