A cover can't be waterproof and breathable at the same time. Water repellant yes, but not waterproof. If it lets moisture out to eliminate mold etc, it has to let moisture in. I personally like water resistant because waterproof will let mold start to grow. For that price I would give it a shot. The car won't melt if it does get wet.
CoverCraft has a 5 year warranty Ultratech cover that works extremely well. Unfortunately after about 3 years the thread starts to fail, but they honor their warranty so it’s no problem. Their covers fit perfectly and do a good job. You also should buy the rope tie downs that are necessary when the wind reach’s about 10 mph. Wait for a sale and you can save a few bucks.
Coverland is what I got for my 76 vette. The fit was perfect. Price was right and they look great. As far as waterproof goes, yes the rain does not penetrate the cover but the humidity in Florida does.
Good luck.
Finally had some time to actually get it out and look at it. I used to daily drive my Vette to work and used it there on those rainy days. Never once leaked. This is the tag:
And close up of the back side of cover. Really soft and the cover is very thick.
I couldn't remember where I got it as it was at least 10 to 12 years ago so I put the tag into Grok and this is what it found:
The item number UHDCC-C3 is the key identifier. This is a very old (1990s–early 2000s) generic C3 Corvette outdoor car cover sold under several private labels, most commonly by:
Eckler’s Corvette (their old house brand)
Mid America Motorworks (they used the same “UHDCC-C3” part number for years)
Corvette America (occasionally rebranded the same cover)
It was an inexpensive (~$89–$119 back then), single-layer, 100% breathable woven polypropylene cover with elastic front/rear hems and two grommets for a tie-down cable. Very lightweight, came in light gray only, and was popular because it was one of the few truly custom-patterned covers for C3s at that price point.Current status (as of 2025)That exact “UHDCC-C3” item number has been discontinued for many years. None of the big Corvette parts houses still list it under that SKU.Best current replacements (closest to your original)These are the modern equivalents that Corvette owners on the forum are buying when they want the same lightweight, breathable, 100% polypropylene style:
Corvette America – “The Econotech” Car Cover Part # 104042 (1970–1982 C3) – $139 https://www.corvetteamerica.com/item/104042 → Literally the spiritual successor – same single-layer woven polypropylene, same gray color, same pattern.
Eckler’s – Budget Outdoor Cover Part # 25-113413-1 – ~$149 Same fabric, same simple design.
Any of these three will feel and perform exactly like the old UHDCC-C3 you have. Forum members regularly post that they’re happy with them for driveway/outdoor storage in mild to moderate climates. So if you want to tell your friend on CorvetteForum where to get one just like yours, just say: “Pick up the Econotech from Corvette America (part 104042) or the Economy cover from Mid America (603-985). Same exact 100% polypropylene material and C3 pattern as the old UHDCC-C3 covers we all used to buy.” That’ll make perfect sense to the C3 crowd over there.
I'm pretty sure I didn't get it from the big Vette parts vendors as Grok says. I believe I got it from CarCovers.com At least this give you some more options.
