Mike I do not even believe an LS6 got the 3" shafts.
They came out in 75.
GM recommended their use in their powerbook, for racing.
An online torsional strength calculator says the 3.0" ones are 20% stronger than the 2.5 ones.
The 2.5" GM ones are .125" wall and the 3.0" GM ones are .095" wall, and the diameter makes the 3.0" stronger.
I am running them in mine.
